Do-It-yourself Credit Repair
Mar 3, 2009 Credit Advice
One of the most effective ways to repair your credit is to get the negatives removed from your report. By contesting any inaccurate or unreliable information you can do this quickely and legally. You can remove anything that is not 100% correct and that is final. And then start to build credit history.
And you can be sure there will be inaccuracies. The system of recording information is not fool-proof in the first place and mistakes get made.
And believe it or not it is possible to do-it-yourself. It isn’t necessary to employ a credit repair lawyer who will charge you an arm and a leg to “draft” letters. A lot of these letters are just cookie-cutter affairs where the lawyer simple prints a copy off from their computer and fills in the blanks for a particular consumer. There is a thing called do-it-yourself credit repair.
Expensive credit repair agencies are not needed either. A lot of the time these are not even qualified lawyers, they are simple normal members of the public who have discovered that credit repair is not difficult and are pitching themselves as experts. They may look like experts but they only survive because the average man in the street doesn’t have a clue about credit. You are not going to save any money if you use one of them.
If you employ a third party to help repair your credit, keep in mind they can only advise you. If you think you can sit back while someone else pumps your score up to 720, think again. You are involved all the way as no-one but you can legally dispute things on your report or negotiate for items to be removed. So, an extra party in not needed.
All you need to do is learn how to approach the matter in the correct way. You don’t need any special skills you just need to learn the correct steps. This is what people mean when they talk about do-it-yourself credit repair.
